CADSA Member and CAFC Photographer Kyle Andrews is set to run in this years Brighton Marathon in aid of the Epilepsy Society.
On his fundraising page Kyle said "I am running the Brighton Marathon to raise money for the Epilepsy Society. I had my first seizure in February 2014 at the age of 18 and was formally diagnosed with epilepsy a year later. For five years I had at least one tonic-clonic seizure per month. I was eventually referred to the specialists at the Epilepsy Society in 2019 and their support has meant my seizure frequency has reduced significantly. While I still have occasional tonic-clonic seizures, and myoclonic seizures are fairly daily, I've been able to make the most of the better days in recent times by running. I'm now putting that to good use to raise some money for a great cause".
As we know at CADSA, not all disabilities are visible, epilepsy is such a disability. "Epileptic seizures are sudden, temporary bursts of abnormal, excessive electrical activity in the brain that disrupt normal function. They can cause involuntary changes in movement, sensation, behavior, or awareness. Tonic-clonic (also known as Grand-Mal) seizures are a loss of consciousness, muscle stiffening, and violent jerking".

We wish Kyle all the best in his race and hope it is a seizure free day!
